The funniest part about this card text is that my dad has worked in the AC business for years, so the poem’s mention of the thermostat is no joke in my house! My dad is the most hard-working man I’ve ever known. He’s taught me so much—from building something from the ground up to how to deal with anxiety and to never let anyone tell you who you are.

My dad is my best friend, too. In my Mother’s Day story, I said that my mom is my best friend, but really, they both are. I just connect to my parents in different ways.

I think for a father, it can be hard to raise a daughter sometimes. As a teenager, I was a little trying at times (as I think most teenagers are), but he never gave up on me. Growing up, he, of course, had more in common with my brother, but once he was out of the house, it was just me. So, my dad introduced me to video games, and while I was initially skeptical because that was his thing with my brother, it quickly became our thing. Years of playing Star Wars and Gears of War, and other sci-fi video games drew us together and created an unbreakable bond between my dad and me.

He’s my protector, my therapist, my voice of wisdom, my comedian, my friend, and my wonderful dad. I don’t say thank you enough, but I should. 

This Father’s Day, especially with this awesome strap, I hope we’re all encouraged to say thank you, I love you, and to celebrate the fathers—and father figures—in our lives a little extra.
