The phrase itself is an old adage that speaks to courage, determination, and the willingness to take risks. It tells us that without the boldness to face our fears, we can't expect to achieve anything truly remarkable.
I love the dictionary definition of remarkable too: worthy of being or likely to be noticed especially as being uncommon or extraordinary
Bravery stands out, doesn't it? In a world where everyone seems to hide, to shy away from what is right in order to blend in, it almost feels as though we've lost a bit of our edge. And my hope for this design is to change that - to accept that facing our fears is hard, yet be excited to try anyway.
Ralph Waldo Emerson has a great line about this that I felt fit so well I actually added it to the back of the card:
"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
I love this because it's so easy to shy away from things that are hard - to blame our circumstances, procrastinate, and make excuses for why we aren't where we want to be. But the saying has stayed around for so long because, let's be honest, it's true. If you want the glory, you need to dare to try.
