When we first started working on ideas for the theme of overcoming fear, I kept going back to one of my earliest memories of being afraid - one that I think pretty much every child experiences:
Monsters under the bed.
Now that I've grown up and no longer have that fear, it's a bit easier to look back and see how silly it was to be afraid of that in the first place. So the idea then came from a simple question - how do we remind ourselves to feel the same about the fears we experience as adults?
How do we stop doing this grown-up version of worrying about what monsters are lurking?
I think we give them a face.
That's what made me love this design so much - it's our way of showing that monsters actually aren't everything they want you to believe. And I think this perfectly illustrates something when it comes to fear: It's good to be aware of real danger but ultimately, when we look our fears in the face, they're really not that scary at all. In fact, I think Lao Tau said it perfectly:
"There is no illusion greater than fear."
I hope this design inspires you to take on those monsters and recognize them for what they really are: Nothing more than your imagination.
