Story
Growth comes from overcoming obstacles. How can you change, adapt, and become better if nothing ever stands in your way? If you think that you’ve evolved plenty without facing challenges head-on, think back to all the lessons you learned as a kid. You discovered that it’s best not to touch the stove when it's hot after burning your hand one too many times and find yourself blowing on freshly cooked food before eating them to avoid those awful burns. I’d say you’ve changed significantly from unexpected challenges.
Not every learning moment has to be painful, but it should challenge your old perspectives. One of the biggest curveballs I’ve faced was learning that being a native English speaker didn’t mean I knew anything about English. I loved reading in my adolescent years and my writing was above average because of that. However, when I stepped foot in a college classroom, my whole understanding of the craft changed. Suddenly I didn’t just need critical thinking skills, but I needed to know everything forwards and backward. Needless to say, my first semester was a shock to my system. But I can say with 100% certainty that my writing skills are far beyond what they were before my degree.
The phrase Earn It might seem simple, but it's not just about working hard. I want you to look at this wristband and feel the urgency of challenging your perspective. You can become something so much greater with every obstacle and by the finish line, you’ll look back and know you’ve earned it.
