Story
I never truly believed that writing was something I could do until someone else encouraged me to give it a shot. I remember the day, specifically, when my mindset changed. It was freshman year English class, and my teacher told me that he’d emailed my parents to let them know that I needed to pursue writing. I was dumbfounded, flabbergasted, confused. I had only ever written essays, dumb stories for fun, and whatever was assigned in class. I never thought that what I created would actually be good enough in someone else’s eyes.
Flash forward to college, I pursued a creative writing degree. Doubt began to creep in more prominently than in the past. I was surrounded by incredibly talented people who made me question my own abilities. I experienced many days where I wanted to just give up and pursue another passion. I still have those days where my mind convinces me that I’m never going to be good enough, never going to make it where I want to go, never going to achieve those dreams.
Unfortunately, doubt kills more than just my writing dreams. It affects a lot of other areas of goals that I wish to accomplish, causing fear to arise that most (or all) of them may never happen. The thing is, doubt is just a stepping stone that we need to cross in the journey to accomplishing our dreams. The way I see it? If you’re doubting your abilities, you’re probably really close to doing something awesome. You just have to push past the fear and doubt that exists in your mind to get there. It’s a difficult challenge sometimes, and you may feel like you want to give up, but I promise, you’re so close to achieving that one thing you’ve been yearning for — may this Strap help you remember that you’re able to get there.
Be bold,
