Don't Grow Up

Story

I always thought that being an adult would be more fun than being a kid. I would watch my older brother going out with friends, jealous that he could hang out with friends without a parent hovering over his shoulder. I would see movies where young women would go out on the town, on dates, or shopping with credit cards and getting the most beautiful, most expensive clothes. It seemed so luxurious to be an adult! How nice was it that these older people didn’t have to do chores, or homework, or clean up their messes...

And then I grew up. 

“Chores” became more extensive to the point where I was excited to get a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. Homework became more than coloring inside the lines and making a volcano for the science fair. Shopping with credit cards became paying bills at the start of each month.

Everything seems a little more special when we see it from an outsider’s perspective. If it’s not directly in front of us, and we don’t know all the details, we may think someone has something more exciting or fun going on in their lives. In reality, we all have bad things happen. We all have to work for the good things in life. Is it a bad thing? Sometimes it feels like it, yes. But really, it makes us more appreciative of the things we used to have or currently have. If there’s one thing I hope this awesome strap reminds you to do is to enjoy every stage of your life. Enjoy every moment. Cause we’re all growing older, we should learn from being kids that sometimes, what though it seems like things could be more fun in the future, may not always be the case. Be appreciative of every moment life gives you. It’s more special than you realize.
