It's Better When You're Here

Do you ever feel like you’re unwanted in your own friend group? It’s a rough feeling – when you’re in a crowd of people yet you still feel completely alone. Sometimes, I think that’s a sign that you need to surround yourself with different people. I know it can feel like you’re alone, that you’re unwanted, unworthy, but none of that is true. You may just be around the wrong crowd. 

I used to be there. I was in a group of 7 girls, and every single day, I dreaded going to lunch because I had nowhere to sit except with them. For an entire hour, every day for four years, I endured harsh comments, moments of being ignored any time I spoke, and felt like I was never good enough to be part of the bigger moments. Then, college came, and I was surrounded by new people. Turns out, all of those thoughts I’d had were wrong. So far from the truth!

Sometimes, it really just depends on who you’re around because when you find the right people, you find warriors. People who will fight with you in your battles, comfort you in your losses, and celebrate your victories. I hope you find those people – the ones who will remind you just how important it is that you’re here.
