I was angry and felt wronged by many things that happened in my childhood.  My anxiety was at an all time high because I would let these things run wild in my mind and affect my daily decisions and attitude towards life. At times it still happens but I always try to remind myself it’s not doing any good to worry because nothing productive is ever accomplished with worry.  I had a bad mindset that only contributed to depression by focusing on the negative.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eLife isn’t always easy but if we are choosing to learn from hard times we allow ourselves to consciously make the decision to forgive others and focus on the many things that bring us joy.  Forgiveness takes the weight of worry off of your shoulders. It doesn't mean what happened was right or that we have to forget, it simply means you have decided to choose Joy over, worry, anxiety, stress and negativity.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eBecause in the end you are taking control of your life and enjoying all the wonderful things it has to offer. It was my dream car, my first word... yet I had never even driven one. Why couldn't he see how important this was to me?\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAfter his final 'NO', I swore to him that I would buy one before he did. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHe laughed at me. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe man I looked up to the most in my life, the one who taught me everything I knew about cars, laughed at me when I told him my dream.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI spent the next 5 years of my life with one single goal: To prove him wrong. I worked like I never had before, day and night, multiple jobs just to save up money and make my dream a reality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn my 23rd birthday, I flew up to Sacramento and picked up my first Corvette. I called him that night as I was driving down the PCH, leaving a voicemail I wish I could hear today. \"Hey dad, just wanted you to know that I did what you said I couldn't.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAhhh... thats making me tear up as I write it. I love my dad, and I know he never meant to hurt me by laughing - if Sven had said that to me I probably would have done the same thing. The truth is, we often end up finding motivation where we least expect to - many times from people who have no idea how powerful their words really were.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy hope for this ZOX is that it reminds you to stay strong. There's no need to be upset at the people who doubt you - use their doubt as fuel to succeed. Don't just prove them wrong, blow their expectations out of the water to the point where you establish you are a force to be reckoned with. They are extremely close.  Watching my wife deal with the pain of constant vigil for Robin is heartbreaking.  It consumes a lot of her thoughts on almost a daily basis and it crushes her that she is mostly powerless to help her friend with the extreme depression they are feeling and expressing relentlessly.  Knowing what Robin is going through, I can completely understand how they could feel hopeless.  Several lost jobs, one of them an entire career, divorce, child custody battles over a newborn, losing a parent, legal issues, mental health problems, substance abuse issues stemming from these things )and contributing to them)... it's a lot. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRobin has, on multiple occasions, spoken about this despair and how it might be solved through an extreme action. There have been several interventions by my wife and by law enforcement, an ongoing issue for almost as long as I can remember.  While it has been really hard for my wife to constantly attend to this, I know for sure that if she were to lose Robin she would be absolutely devastated. Robin’s child would grow up without a parent, their mother would never forgive herself. To say they'd be missed is a massive understatement - they're incredibly important to a lot of people, even though they don’t think they are. To put it more clearly - Robin matters….and so do you.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy hope for you, when you wear this strap, is that it will serve as a reminder that no matter how low you are feeling, you\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eare\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eimportant and people need you. The struggle we're all facing, in our own ways, highlights a simple truth: Our lives are like a tapestry. People who are going through immense struggles that I know need a word of encouragement like this to give them a hug - to remind them that they're loved and we're counting on them to make it through. Like 'Today I Will Not Worry' and 'You're Going To Be Okay', this ZOX was made for struggles all of us will endure at one time or another - the ones that take time to heal. \n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eWe all know that life has a way of showing us some real hills and valleys. Sometimes things are great and we're on top of the world - other times, they're incredibly hard and we're just looking for a way back up. Maybe it's the loss of a loved one at a completely unexpected time, or chronic pain that you've been living with for so long now that your life feels defined by it. Maybe it's PTSD from experiences that have shaped who you've become as a person or a wonderful relationship that ended badly and you can not figure out why. Maybe it's the anxiety of not knowing what's next that's making you feel like a deer in headlights every waking moment. Whatever the case might be, I made this ZOX for you. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eOne of the hardest questions we keep trying to answer after a traumatic experience is why. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eWhy me? \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eWhy now?\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eI named this ZOX and wrote the card with it for exactly those moments. It's your armor for the days when you're struggling to put things together - to understand what's going on. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eI believe there is one thing in struggles we face that will always be true: Your happiness is worth fighting for, no matter the emotions that come in and try to take that away. There may not be an answer to why things happen the way they do that we can understand, but my hope for this ZOX is that it'll give you peace with figuring it out as you go. Things are going great on my end; I've been feeling more and more at home in my new apartment, and have even started exploring the local scene a bit more. One of the best parts about moving to a new place, in my opinion, is exploring; I get to discover my new favorite restaurants, new friends to spend time with, and so much more! There have been a lot of chapters in my life – my middle school tomboy phase where I refused to even look at the color pink or my high school years of figuring out what I wanted to do with my life... but those are stories for another time. We all have our own unique stories, and while some chapters are harder than others, we persevere and keep turning the pages to see what happens next; time keeps moving and so do we.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's wild that college is a year behind me now; so much has changed in what felt like so little time. College was an amazing experience, don't get me wrong, but it also came with a good deal of stress – the stress of getting projects finished in time and the stress of whether or not my work was good enough to pass. Working as hard as I could every second of every day to build my art portfolio while attending school was a big chapter in my life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSpeaking of big chapters, this past year was a massive undertaking wasn't it? We, as a people, had to learn how to cope with being alone and learn new ways to communicate and spend time with the people we couldn't see in person. For some, last year brought overwhelming heartache, pain, and stress. I've always been an optimistic person, but this past year was hard and at times it was difficult to think it'd ever end. Having the Polaroid pictures of my friends and me celebrating, whether it be a big thing or a small gathering, means more to me now than they did the night we took the photos. Most of the photos are completely candid, random moments during the night of people playing games, engaging in conversation, or laughing at one another. I keep a stack of the photos tucked away in a little box to visit from time to time. Those little photos are my happy moments; memories I like to pull out every now and then to cherish and remember. I think each person has something akin to a Polaroid picture that they collect as memory-holders. Collecting each one to think back on in years to come.
