I know it sounds weird, but It’s advice my Father once gave me. By this he meant,  If you’re worrying and allowing these things to take up your mindspace with their negativity you’re hindering your own Joy. I have come to realise as I get older that my Father was right. (Thanks Dad!)\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn my teens I let nothing go. I was angry and felt wronged by many things that happened in my childhood.  My anxiety was at an all time high because I would let these things run wild in my mind and affect my daily decisions and attitude towards life. At times it still happens but I always try to remind myself it’s not doing any good to worry because nothing productive is ever accomplished with worry.  I had a bad mindset that only contributed to depression by focusing on the negative.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eLife isn’t always easy but if we are choosing to learn from hard times we allow ourselves to consciously make the decision to forgive others and focus on the many things that bring us joy.  Forgiveness takes the weight of worry off of your shoulders. It doesn't mean what happened was right or that we have to forget, it simply means you have decided to choose Joy over, worry, anxiety, stress and negativity.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eBecause in the end you are taking control of your life and enjoying all the wonderful things it has to offer. My most favorite days are spent soaking up the golden rays and on cloudy days I often catch myself looking at the sky wondering and waiting for the sun to peek through. When it does, even for a couple minutes, in some strange way I feel relieved. That is something I am continually working on in my life. I worry about what will happen to me once I graduate from college. Will I get a job? Am I even ready or capable of a “real job”? I worry about my relationships. Am I a good enough sister or is there more I could be doing to invest in my relationship with my brother? I worry about my future. Am I deserving enough to be loved forever? Could somebody really want to spend their life with me? My goodness, I even worry about where I’m going to park when I can’t find a parking spot in a lot.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt’s so easy to find things to worry about and get sucked into the black hole of doubt. What I have come to realize is that when I worry, I am standing under the clouds. I am shielding myself from my own happiness, when there is a world of goodness and hope in the sunlight. There is a family who loves me, companies who will believe in me, and there is a respect for myself that I am most worthy and deserving of the kind of love that little girls spend their days dreaming about. My goal is to choose the sunlight each day. To remind myself to believe in my own talents and values. To seek out the goodness each person and each experience brings to my life. To find the pockets of light, amongst the hard parts in life where I can be happy and my truest self and bask in those moments. The problem with agreeing to too much is stress or unhappiness. Sometimes, you have to say no for the sake of your own happiness. And that’s okay. Unfortunately, we can’t please everyone in this life, but it’s important to please ourselves, too. If we work too hard, spread ourselves too thin, we’re likely to endure the costs of it through anxiety, stress, fatigue, and unhappiness. Sometimes, you have to choose yourself and your own happiness over potentially hurting yourself in the process of making others happy. There’s plenty of opportunities to help others, my friend.
