I was so overwhelmed and thoughts of doubt kept racing through my mind: What had I gotten myself into? I’m not smart enough to be here. Maybe I should just pack my bags and move back to Kansas. I’m in over my head. There’s no way I’m going to be able to learn all of this…  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eMy mom wasn’t going to let me drown myself in negative thoughts, but she also didn’t let me have a pity party.  She told me there was a reason that I’d been accepted to that school - I earned my spot just like everyone else. However, if I didn’t start believing in myself, all of that hard work that got me there was for nothing. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eShe was right. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eLife isn’t always going to be easy, people aren’t always going to be there to pick me up when I waver or fall, but one thing I always have is myself. In that moment, I knew that the first step to getting through and excelling in my new journey was choosing to think positively and believe in myself.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI’ll be honest, it wasn’t easy. Even now, I still have self-doubt from time to time. I still overthink things and question my own abilities. Though through all those challenges I've faced, I've found happiness. I've found that when I can prove to myself that I have what it takes, the doubt disappears. As young adults, we often create dreams for how we want our future to look. For a lot of us, those dreams come true, or they change. They evolve. We start to walk down a different path that turned out to be a dream-blessing in disguise. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eAlong the way, we’ll meet people that inspire us, challenge us, support us, or redirect us. Whoever has stood beside you during this renewal and growth period, I hope that we remember them when we get to where we need to go. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work with words every day, and I get to see other creatives using their talents to bring their ideas to life in the most extraordinary of ways. For everyone, there’s something that drives their daily activity. Whether you love to paint, draw, write, sing, dance, argue in a courtroom, or create culinary masterpieces, there’s something innate that helps you get everything done.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eAs someone who can relate to wanting to have their creative work finished in their hands, I know how rewarding that can be. And how difficult it can be to hear criticism along the way of getting that project to the point of completion. Some people will never understand why you love what you do, or why you would choose to do that over this other talent you have. Let’s call ‘em naysayers. Those who say, “you can’t do that.”\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUnfortunately, critics will always be around. But instead of listening to their words and thinking they’re right, take their words as motivation to prove them wrong. Let this ZOX serve as a constant push to keep doing whatever makes you happy, despite what everyone else says.
